What goes on a cover sheet

  • To: the person or company the fax is for, and their fax number.
  • From: your name and a phone number or email, so they can reply.
  • Date and number of pages: count the cover sheet too.
  • Subject and message: what it is about, and anything they need to do, like “Please reply by Friday”.

Do I need a fax cover sheet?

Not always. It helps when the fax goes to a busy or shared machine, because it tells whoever collects the pages who they are for and how many to expect. It is also where a confidentiality notice goes.

What does the confidentiality notice do?

It asks anyone who receives the fax by mistake to tell you and destroy it. It does not make a fax private, and it is not legal advice.

How do I save it as a PDF?

Press the button, then choose “Save as PDF” as the printer in the print window. On a phone, use the share or save option in the print screen.

Can I send it as a fax straight away?
